Synopsis
Before Thunderbirds, before Stingray, before Captain Scarlet… there was Fireball XL5. Created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson at the height of the Space Race, this series established the template for everything that followed: a secret organisation, extraordinary hardware, and heroes willing to go anywhere in the known universe to protect the Earth.
Set in the year 2062, the series follows Colonel Steve Zodiac and the crew of the World Space Patrol's flagship spacecraft as they patrol the far reaches of Sector 25 of the galaxy, encountering alien civilisations, foiling interplanetary threats, and boldly going where no puppet had gone before. Joining Zodiac on his adventures are space doctor Venus, the eccentric Professor Matt Matic, and Robert the Robot, whose distinctive electronic voice was provided by Gerry Anderson himself.
The third Anderson Supermarionation production and the last in black-and-white, Fireball XL5 is a must-see classic 60s sci-fi/adventure series filled with flair, extraterrestrial excitement, and plots beyond belief.
