Synopsis
In a Mexico torn apart by civil war, former southern colonel Benjamin Trane crosses paths with Joe Erin, an adventurer at the head of a small band of desperadoes. A meeting for the less agitated but, between the two men, links are tied. They even tightened when, at the request of the Emperor Maximilian, they accepted from a detachment of French lancers to escort the Countess Duvarre to Vera Cruz where a boat was waiting for her. Under the fire of the revolutionaries, they discover that this is only a diversion, their real load proving to be much more valuable and coveted.
