" You'll see… "

From September 1990, on Canal Plus, Jean-Pierre Dionnet opened his program with these words Neighborhood Cinema r. An appointment that quickly became a must for lovers of exploitation cinema, too happy to discover or rediscover peplums with their plastic rocks, English horror tinged with vampires, mummies and werewolves, seductive spies with good words from station novels, baroque transalpine westerns and so many others.

Over the years, this version of Midnight Cinema reviewed and corrected by the spirit Canal has nurtured a counter-history of cinema, the first step in rehabilitating a cinema then poorly considered.

Through the memories of his collaborators and numerous documents, A history of neighborhood cinema goes behind the scenes of this still legendary show today, the object of so many fantasies and legends, from the origins of its creation until its shutdown in December 2007. The book also offers the complete list of films programmed, the presentation of guests, as well as an unpublished preface by Bertrand Mandico.
