Synopsis
Shaolin Intruders
Someone's killing prominent men – and, unbelievably, all the evidence points to a Shaolin monk as the culprit. But Shaolin doesn't give up its secrets lightly and any investigator will have to prove they're worthy in combat. And even those who pass the tests will learn how far the killer will go to keep their secrets...
Directed by the great Tang Chia – the genius behind Shaolin Prince – Shaolin Intruders is another classic kung fu caper, boasting some of the finest – and most influential – martial arts set-pieces of their era. 88 Films are proud to present this late-period Shaw Brothers masterpiece.
Shaolin Prince
After seizing power in a palace coup, the usurper vows to kill the rightful ruler – his baby nephew. But a loyal bodyguard risks everything to take the child to the Shaolin temple, where he's raised by three eccentric monks. Under their tutelage, he grows up to become a kung fu master, learning skills that will become vital when his evil uncle learns he's still alive.
And there's more to be faced along the way, including wizards, ghosts and the fabled '18 Buddhist Attack' (which really does have to be seen to be believed!): director Tang Chia pulled out all the stops to make this one of the most inventive (and craziest) kung fu films of the classic kung fu era – not to mention one of the very greatest films ever produced by Shaw Brothers.
Two Champions of Shaolin
Shaolin vs. Wu Tang! What do you get when the two greatest martial arts clans go head to head? You get 2 Champions of Shaolin, that's what: Shaolin students pledge to overthrow the wicked Wu Tang and their evil overlords – and they're not going to settle their differences by talking it over like gentlemen.
A knife throwing, stomach slashing, testicle severing spectacular from genre legend Chang Cheh and starring his famed proteges the Venom mob, 2 Champions of Shaolin was featured in the video for The Chemical Brothers Get Yourself High. Now you can see it as it was meant to be seen, freshly restored and more outrageously entertaining than ever.
