Synopsis
Bernard Level, a judge in a small provincial town, is entrusted with the investigation of a delicate case. A man suspected of a minor offense died at the police station, following his interrogation by the commissioner and two of his inspectors. At the end of his instruction Level ends up indicting the police. From that moment, all kinds of pressures are exerted on him.
