Synopsis
England, 1870. Doctor Arrowsmith, for the benefit of his experiments, abandons his wife, Muriel, who takes refuge in the arms of the gardener. Caught in the act of adultery, the husband tortures and kills them. Learning that Muriel has bequeathed all his fortune to his sister, Jenny, who looks strangely like him, the doctor marries her. His ulterior motive is to drive her crazy, in order to get her money back. But Jenny seems to be communicating with her sister's vengeful spirit.
