The book retraces the career of Edmond Jamoulle (1931-), the last film painter still living in Belgium.
An exceptional testimony to a world that has disappeared forever: that of the calicoists which decorated the facades of cinemas with sometimes gigantic frescoes. A modest, ephemeral art, of which very few traces remain.
Edmond Jamoulle began his career at the age of 16, in 1946, as an apprentice in a modest workshop. He will gradually climb the ladder of his profession, devoting himself to it body and soul.
In the 1970s, he found himself at the head of the main workshop in Belgium, counting in his clientele no less than 33 rooms, including the prestigious Eldorado in Brussels.
Directly affected by the hecatomb of cinemas and the disappearance of his profession in the early 2000s, he will face all situations with an astonishing ability to adapt.
Edited with the help of the Nova cinema team – ABC Fund and PAONLIN.
