Synopsis
Directed by the great fashion photographer Bert Stern - to whom we owe the famous portraits of Marilyn Monroe taken shortly before her disappearance -, "Jazz on a Summer's Day" is one of the very first filmed concerts of the history of cinema and certainly one of the most legendary. Louis Armstrong, Mahalia Jackson, Chuck Berry, Chico Hamilton… the greatest legends of jazz parade under the bright sun of Newport and deliver a unique performance. Between two concerts, Bert Stern films the effervescence that animates this city, like an enchanted parenthesis. A rare testimony to America at the end of the 1950s.
