Synopsis
In Calcutta, in 1937. Anne-Marie Stretter, wife of the French ambassador, has a romantic relationship with Michael Richardson. One evening, during a reception given at the embassy, she finds him and gives him a few dance steps. Among the guests is also the vice-consul of France in Lahore, sent in disgrace to Calcutta. The latter, seeing Anne-Marie, does not take long to declare his passionate love for her, in front of the scandalized assembly of guests. The next day, Anne-Marie mysteriously disappeared.
