In New Orleans, Jane Baker leaves her two children to join her lover, Fred Kellerman. On the way, they are victims of a tragic accident which costs the life of her lover. Traumatized, she loses her mind.
After a year of internment, Jane leaves the psychiatric hospital. She moves into her late lover's apartment. The woman has an ambiguous relationship with the young blind concierge, Robert Duval. From the first evening, Jane lends herself in a morbid way to honor Fred's memory under Robert's supervision. Lucy reconnects with her mother. The girl has not said her last word.
