Synopsis
The story takes place largely in Hong Kong, in 1941. Bai Liusu , divorced for several years, lives in the suffocating atmosphere of the family home. The only way to escape this atmosphere would be to remarry. Acting as an intermediary for the marriage of one of the daughters of the Bai family, Mrs. Xu undertakes at the same time to "settle" Liusu. Madame Xu however offers him an escape: leaving for Hong Kong to join her husband who is doing business with Fan Liuyuan, she invites Liusu to leave with her, under the pretext of taking care of the children during the trip. Then begins, in the social atmosphere of the British colony, a game of cat and mouse between Bai Liusu And Fan Liuyuan.
