Synopsis
 Saget is pursued by the police after having robbed a bank. He is picked up by a drunken motorist, Ludovic Mercier, who is returning to his hometown after making his fortune in the United States. But the vehicle skids, leaves the road and hits a tree: Mercier dies but Saget is safe and sound. He then decides to usurp the identity of the deceased.
