A major filmmaker of genre cinema, Dario Argento was born in Rome in 1940. He has directed eighteen feature films, including The Bird with Crystal Plumage (1970), The Shivers of Anxiety (1975), Suspiria (1977 ), Phenomena (1985), Dracula 3D (2012). A film critic in his early days, a screenwriter very early on, writing was decisive in his creation. Among the many readings that have counted for him stand out the stories of Edgar Allan Poe, from which he adapted The Black Cat for the diptych produced with George A. Romero, Two Maleficent Eyes (1990).
