Synopsis
Superintendent Maigret receives a visit from a friend, the Comtesse de Saint-Fiacre, whom he had not seen for forty years. She comes to show him an anonymous letter announcing her own death, which would take place the next day. Maigret accompanies him that very evening to his castle. He experiences a heavy sensation in this dilapidated building. The next morning, the Countess is found dead. The doctor concludes that it was a natural death but Maigret declares: no, it is indeed a crime.
