Synopsis
An adventurer rushes Giovanni, a young accountant, into the arms of his mistress. She becomes his wife and bears him a son. But the former lover reappears and claims to recover the young woman… after the war, his sulphurous articles earned him prison sentences. Despite the birth of a son, he refuses to fall into line. Elena leaves him. Changing then his way of thinking, he becomes rich and famous, until his conscience forces him again to revolt against the established order.
